Lound hammering noise when toilet is flushed
    Hi

Since a couple of days back, we have heard some noise when we flush the toilet in our powder room. The noise is like a machine gun or a very fast hammer and seems to come from the shutoff valve below the toilet tank. This happens when we flush the toilet and stops if the shut off valve is shut. Once I tried to increase the flow by turning the shutoff valve more and this seemed to have stopped the sound. However, this sound does not always happen, maybe once in 5 flushes. Sometime the sound is like a machine-gun but sometimes it is more like whining.

The powder room is the only toilet downstairs and this home is just two years old. The noise is quite loud and if I touch the shutoff valve it seems to be vibrating.

Can someone please help me with identifying the problem? What can I do to address this issue myself?

    Thanks in advance
    Jack Moi.

Sounds like you have a loose washer in the toilet stop valve.
