Hi,
I want to install a 'Maglock' to a manual swing door, with localised on/off keyswitch and remote switching from another room.
I have been given a MAG-03000ALS-HD 24V 'Mag', 1 x MY4IN 24vdc relay and a PYF-14A-N relay socket.
I've set it up and had it working on the workbench all except for the relay. I have no experience with relays and need pointing in the right direction as to how it would be connected into the circuit.
A digram would be great if poss. But simple 'layman' instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Relays basically allow a small current to control a larger current where different voltages can be used for control and the high current side.

Hopefully the relay has a diagram on it. They look like switches which are shown in the de-energised position. When power is applied to the coil of the relay, the relay changes state.

This might be enough to for you to understand, but might not.

I will add a few comments:
Locks such as these should have a motion detector on the inside, so that the lock would disengage in an emergency. Lock systems are generally connected to a backup power supply where fire alarms would disengage the locks.

I will elaborate if it helps to give a fuller picture of the circumstances: This is a manual swing door, adjacent to a fully automated door. The automated door is quite correctly connected to the fire alarm system . The 'Mag' is for night security on the manual swing door.
As far as I know, there will not be any current on the switching wire from the remote switch. The auto doors will be locked at night and the remote switch is to let night staff enter and leave the building via the swing door, which will be overseen by security staff operating the remote switch. Hope this helps.
I need to know, how the relay connects to the 'Mag' circuit with the 'clean pair' from the remote switch, please.

Pin 13 is -24, Pin 14 is +24; applying power to these terminals will activate the relay and illuminate the LED. These relays have an integral diode to suppress back emf, therefore the coil is polarity sensitive.

You would wire pin 14 of the relay with your NO contacts of your keyswitch in series with the normally open contacts of the aux switch and finally to your (+) 24 V power source. (-24) of your power source would go to pin 13. Thus both switches must be on to activate the relay. You might consider fusing this circuit to say 1 amp or less.

Pick any of the 4 available normally open contacts, let's use pins 9 and 5 and pretend it's a switch for the maglock and wire accordingly.
