Odor from drainage tile around basement
We have a terrible odor coming from the drainage tile that is around the basement of the house. The smell is coming up from the sump pump pit. We have cleaned out the pit and even put a new sump pump in. We also filled the pit up with water and purex and let it filter into the drainage tile overnight. That still did not work. What else should we look for. The furnace picks up the odor and sends it thur the whole house.

Check out where the sewer exits the house. Just open the clean out cap before it enters the concrete wall( I hope the plumber put one there) and shine a flashlight inside. You will be looking for a broken sewer pipe. If it doesn't look like a tubular pipe, then it is probably sheared. This normally happens when the ground settles underneath. This may in turn be leaking into your draintile causing the stench.
