State wages for NY and NJ
    Hi,

I received two W2 forms - I lived part year in NJ and part of the year in NY while working in NYC the entire time. The W2 for my time in NJ has NY state wages (box 16) same as box 1, while state wages for NJ are less than box 1.

I know NY requires total Federal wages to be reported in this box. How do I separate NJ wages from NY wages on my income taxes?

You get a competent tax professional to prepare your return.

The complexitiy of your return seems to dictate no other course of action.

BP31707 must have already filed the tax return, after posting on March 16.

I recognize that many (if not most) of my answering posts are too late to be helpful, but is NOT always the case. I have gotten both PMs and emails stating that my posts were helpful even at this late date.

Note that I am only answering posts which have NOT been answered.
