I'm 16 and am seriously thinking about getting my monroe pierced, but I wanted to know the seriousness of it. Because I know that for a tongue ring there are so many complications, and it can get seriously infected, pretty easily, and it hurts a lot.
Well I wanted to know how bad is getting my monroe pierced, can it get easily infected? How bad can it be? And how much it will hurt, I pretty much want to know all there is about the piercing. It would be really aprreciated

Honestly, tongue piercings do not get infected as easily as you may think. They are one of the piercings that actually heals very well with little complications.

The complications with any piercing can be irritation, infection, migration, rejection, scarring, and if you go to a dirty place, you run the risk of Hepatitis.

Monroe piercings need to be taken good care of to avoid any significant scarring on your face. For the outer part of the piercing :

Clean twice a day with antibacterial soap for the first week that you have the piercing, then reduce to once a day.

For the inner part of the piercing :

Rinse with non-alcoholic mouthwash after each meal. When you brush your teeth in the morning and evening, brush gently around the jewelry with a soft bristled toothbrush.

Be careful not to overclean. Overcleaning can cause irritation in the piercing and cause it to become infected. After the piercing is completely healed, you can get away with using mouthwash only once or twice a day (when you brush your teeth).

I wouldn't recommend getting the piercing if you do not think you can keep up with the aftercare. Poor aftercare is a common reason for infection and scarring.

One more thing, make sure your parents agree to the piercing. If you do not have parental consent, you cannot get the piercing.

It combines the salt water and the cleaning products that clean out your piercing.
Oh and to tell you the truth, I just got my monroe piercing done a few weeks ago, and it hurt a lot, but only for a few seconds, and than its over. It was more of a pressure pain than a pain from the needle. If you are still thinking about it, you should get it done. Just make sure the place is safe.

Antibacterial soap does not kill healthy cells, it promotes them (ie; ANTIBACTERIAL). It prevents bacteria from spreading throughout the piercing. As for H2Ocean, it DOES kill cells, along with dries out the piercing causing flakiness, peeling, swelling, redness, etc. If you are going to use H2Ocean, use it sparingly.
