Is it normal for my 9 week old puppy to refuse to eat?
Hi, last week I bought a 8 week old golden retriever. He is happy and has been to the vet for a check up. The vet said he is healthy and happy!

Thursday he refused to eat when I woke him up in the morning. When I got home from work, he refused to eat. I got him to eat about 1 cup full of puppy food by hand feeding him. Friday he ate about 2 small handfulls of puppy food, that's it. He just pushes it with his nose and sighs.

This morning I bought Iams puppy wet food and mixed 2 spoonfuls into his dry Iams food and he gobbled a cup down. He is drinking plenty of water, doesn't have loose stools and is just as playful as always. Could he just hate his dry food? Is it normal for puppies to refuse to eat? Is it OK to mix wet food into his dry food all the time, if this is the only way he likes it?

    Thanks!

It is okay to mix dry and wet food together if he will only eat it that way. He will eat when he is hungry enough, or he should, but keep an eye on him because if he does not eat for an extensive period, you should take him to the vet to be screened for parasites, health issues, etc.
