I hope this is the correct forum area... :confused:
I have been given a old xp pro desk top unit that is perfect for home use.
I need to switch off the logging at the start up to return it to its original start up xp state. I have switched from domain to work group in the system/computer name/ network id and I have also changed the settings to not logging on in desktop/properties/screen saver unchecked "on resume password protect". But the darn thing still wants me to log on.
How do I set the unit to go to the user icons welcome startup page with admin, users and guest??

Erm, I'm not to sure if this is the think that you are referring about.

But go in to Control Panel > User Account

Press on the Advance TAB> and Untick the CTRL+ALT+DEL box below

Try the following:
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy

From here expand Local Policies and select Security Options. Find the following:

Interactive logon: Do not require CRTL+ALT+DEL

Select and display properties with right click and disable this policy.

Sorry, someone wanted to activate this function. Just enable the policy and CTRL+ALT+DEL will stop on boot up.
