I am 19 years old and I live in ontario. I worked for a convinience store and stole money from the sale of cigarettes and other things. I know that everything I stole can't exceed 5000. The police haven't contacted me yet, but when they do will I be arrested? Also what would be the jail time I would be looking at... and I cannot afford a lawyer so I am going to the legal aid office.does this matter?Is there a chance of getting out early on good behaviour?

Depending on the amount, most likely they will give you a time and place to appear to be photo'ed and finger printed. Most likely once charged an attorney can be supplied for you.
My guess is you will have to pay everything back, get a large fine and be on probation, but that is just a guess.
Thank you for your input... Does it matter that it was on multiple occasions?Yet all of it for sure wouldn't exceed $5000. Also does it matter that the reason I was taking the money was because I am in college and I have a baby on the way?would they sympathize?Im put in a real bad position now since I most likely won't be able to see my child being born or gorwing up!

Nahhh - they don't care why you stole. Most people who steal are broke. Why do you think they steal?

Many of us have been in college and had babies on the way and we didn't steal from our employers so please don't excuse your own behavior.
