    Double Taxation
Hi, I hope some one can help me with this.

I currently work for a Indian Software company. I have been posted in the US from Sept 07 till date. I have paid Income Tax in the US for FY 07 and filed 1040 NR.

My situation is that during this period from Sept 07 onwards, I was paid a Indian salary (This was deducted from my US Salary and I was taxed in US even for this part).

Now, do I get a double taxation certificate from my company? And will I need to pay taxes for the period Sept 07 - March 08 as I have already been taxed in the US.

How is the double taxation certificate computed.

Thanks ad all your help will be appreciated.

There is no need for a "double taxation" certificate.

All you need do is submit Form 1116 to apply for the Foreign Tax Credit for the Indian taxes paid on the Indian salary. The offset will NOT be dollar-for-dollar, but it is better than nothing.
