    I have an older brother and my mom that aren't legal my question was how old do I have to be to start getting them started to get their papers and be legal

    They have to do that, a brother or son can't just say please let my family become residents, they have to apply for these things.

    Actually you can sponsor your family if you are a citizen in Canada or the US for permanent residence.

    You have to be 18 and a citizen, not just a permanent resident (green card holder)

    Just sponsoring someone does not get them citizenship.

    It gets them permanent residence (or a green card, whichever term you use) anyone with a green card can apply for citizenship after living in the US for a few years.

    There is no way to apply for citizenship directly in any country... you have to live there (legally) first.
