I bought a new Beckett burner for my furnace. However, it drips fuelfrom the nozzel into the air tube, which then get too hot and after a while burns a hole in the front of the airtube. It's been adjusted many times and still this happens. The new unit has a delay valve built into the unit, which appears to only delay the start of the oil flow, apparently not stopping the flow after the furnace turn off. Any ideas ?:confused:

Check your oil pressure... if not getting a good spray you will get the drip. Check your oil filter also.

To set up the burner correctly takes some skill. If you just took it out of the box and put it in the furnace it will probably not work correctly.

Combustion chamber size dictates the GPM of the nozzle.

The degree of spread depends upon combustion chamber design and length and width and depth.

The electrodes need to be set.

Hollow,semi soild,and solid nozzle will need to be selected besides size and degree of spread.

The oil discharge tube needs to be adjusted to the burner barrel length.

The burner barrel also needs to be adjusted to the depth of the mounting plate of the furnace.

Then for maximum efficiency a stack temp and CO test needs to be run to fine tune the burner. Oil is very expensive these days so the burner should be run at maximum efficiency.
