    Swollen hands
    Hi -
Went swimming last night - as I was pulling myself out of the pool on the ladder, I felt a wave of something shoot from my elbow straight down to my fingertips, ending with a tingly feeling - I knew what this meant - within the hour, my hand would be swollen to the size of a basketball - (and so it has!) but this time, the swelling is accompanied by much pain! - unfortunately, weeks usually past by the time I've been able to get any appointments with any specialists, and hence the swelling goes away and they can't find anything wrong! - I don't even begin to know where on the net to look for what keeps causing this (it isn't the first time) - don't know how to find out if it's an injury to the arm, the wrist, the hand, etc - don't know how to find out if it's a joint, a ligament, a tendon, etc.

Will welcome any clue from all participants?

    Thanks

    HIC

Have you tried WebMD.com. They have a great symptoms checker, you just apply the symptoms you have and it will give you multiple possibilites and how important it is to notify a doctor. I use it quite frequently!

I have to ask... do you have any numbness or tingling sensation that lasts in your hand?

At first, it sounded like arthritis or carpal tunnel, but the hand swelling to that large of a size tells me there's more to it.

Go see a doc and see about getting an MRI done on your arm.
