    Multiple cats
    Hi,

We adopted a 5 month old male kitten about 6 weeks ago. He's very sweet and loving. Two days ago we took in a 9 month old female on a trial basis. They get along great. Too great in fact. I'm afraid my little boy kitten will bond with the new little girl instead of to me and my husband. I know that sounds selfish, but we did get him for companionship and company. Does anyone have 2 cats who love their humans more than each other?

    Wow.

You are worried about the cat liking the other cat, more than you and your husband?

I hate to tell you this, but, I think you have the wrong type of pet. Have you had cats before?

They are VERY INDEPENDENT you know? They will "let" you pet them when they want to, not when you want to. They may spend hours and hours off asleep somewhere all by themselves, somewhere where you can't even see them.

I really think perhaps a good dog would better suit what you are looking for in a pet?

I'm sorry that you are so worried about this!

Yes, I've had cats all my life but only one at a time. I just lost a cat last March after 18 years. My new male cat's personality and level of 'independence' is just fine right now. My question is whether he'll change with the presence of a female cat and become less interested in human affection.

I have two cats, a male and female. They have both been fixed. They play together and they both are affectionate with me.
You have kittens and they are naturally going to play with each other, but they will also bond with you and your husband. I am assuming that the both of you spend time with and play with the cats.
I think you are worrying about nothing.

Those cats are going to bond because they are both cats, that does not mean they will not also bond with you and your husband.
It's kind of like kids. They will play together and have fun, but they still love and crave the attention and time with their parents.
