    Sq. ft. pricing.
Hi, I just want to get some idea of how much people are charging by the sqare ft. for interior painting. I just need a average price. The square footage is about 3500 with some small drywall repair and we might want to change the color so we need price for priming as well. It is all wall with 20 door ways to paint around and 13 windows that do not need to be painted. We live in Ontario Canada Thanks

It kind of depends on where you live, the painting amount you need done, what paint you are using, etc... you would be better off calling local painting services and asking for an estimate. =)

One of the things that I do for a living is that I am a house painter. Yes, there are a number of factors to be considered when charging by the square foot for painting. Are you asking about painting on perfectly flat surfaces using a roller? Or, is this about spraying? Around where I live, the going rate is pretty much about .70 cents a square foot for two coats rolled and cut in with a brush on a perfectly flat surface. That price does not include the product used nor any priming or other surface preparation, such as patching of any kind, that might need to be done.

As mentioned by charlotte234s, is does depend on where you live as to what the possible price might be because depending on where you will be doing the work, the prices can vary greatly.

The cheapest I have been quoted was $ .50 per square foot and this guy did not have insurance. Most of the pro quotes I got were doubt the cheap guy but they were insured and bonded.
