    Resident or nonresident?
I living in NJ and going to school in DC. Had income working part time in both states in 2007. Where do I file resident state taxes and non-resident state taxes. Since going to school in DC, I lived there more than 183 days but I am a registered voter in NJ. What to do? Please help...

You MUST file a NJ tax return as a NJ resident.

In order to file a DC tax return, you must LIVE in DC, so no worry there.

However, I suspect that MD taxes were withheld from your wages, unless you were very clear that you lived ONLY in NJ. If MD taxes were withheld, you need to file a MD tax return to claim a complete refund because you neitehr worked nor lived in MD, so they have NO LEGAL CLAIM to tax your DC salary.
