    Shoplifting first time
My and my wife was caught shoplifting in Von Moor on Friday. Total 7 items, amount $670. One of the items was a bra my wife had on. They've got us on type. We had a little baby with us. The police arrived and arrested us. We have a court date within 3 weeks. I asked the police officer what can happen to us and he said a year of jail, they can take away our baby and fines. Is this true? We contact a lower and we're going to see him this week. IT was first time, we never had any conflict with law.

Where is Von Moor? And, yes, depending on the charge if you are found guilty and both of you are sentenced to jail you would lose custody of your baby. Will that happen on a first charge, I don't know - depends on where you are.

(Hard to deny you were shoplifting when you are wearing the item under your outerwear. This is right up there with the woman who had the frozen turkey in her pantyhose.)

Generally a first time offender will get probation. However, this was apparently no impulse grab so its depends on badly the store and the DA want to prosecute you.

Yes they can send you to jail, take away your child and levy fines. Those are all possible punishments. Except taking your child would not be deemed a punishment against you, but a protection of the child.
