First I refer you to the sticky note in the electrical form;

You may find this some help, or perhaps, since home Depot is the only retailer that sells Hampton Bay, is to see if they offer the remote control parts you need.
If you can find the parts, then you should have no other problems, the trick is to find the parts.
Hope this helps.
My remote quit working the fan. The battery is OK
Thanks for that reply. I could not get any help from Home Depot. I finally found the book that came with the fan and called Hampton Bays. Hampton Bays referred me to the company that manufactured their fan and put the name Hampton Bays on it. It has nothing to do with my remote control. It is the sensor in the ceiling fan/light. I ordered a new sensor. I will get an electrician to install the new sensor. They said only the light kit has to come off and the sensor is right there and can be replaced. I was ready to order a whole new fan. The sensor was 38.00. I am awaiting its arrival. Thanks again for your reply. You had the right way to go about fixing the problem.
They charged you $38? The fan should have been under warranty! You know, you can take the entire fan back to Home Depot and they will (should) give you a whole new one under warranty.
If the problem was the remote, you could have gotten a Universal remote to replace it.

Thanks for that reply. The fan is about 3 years old and no longer under warranty. It was explained to me by Hampton Bays that the problem was not with the remote but is the sensor above the light. I had to order a new sensor and will have to have someone just take down the lights and replace the sensor which is above the lights. The whole fan does not have to come down. I appreciate your response. Thank you.
According to Home Depot, all Hampton Bay fans have a lifetime warranty.
I have the Owners Manual in front of me. It is a limited lifetime warranty and does not cover the remote control part of the fan. It also has a number of other limitations in the warranty agreement. I appreciate your quick response and I looked into purchasing a new remote fan with light and the cheapest one I could find that was the color I needed was 199.00 plus tax and of course the I would have to pay for installation so I think the 38.00 is the cheapest way to go. I do appreciate your response very much. The cover of the manual says lifetime warranty but inside it states all the exceptions. Thanks again.
In my experience Home Depot has never adhered to those exceptions. I've brought back fans regardless of what is wrong with them and they've taken them back and given me new ones.
That having been said, if you like your existing fan, and you can get it working for $40, you did good.
I got the replacement sensor today and had my Super install it. It is as good as new now. For 20.00 he was thrilled to replace it. Took him 10 minutes. I do appreciate all your advice. Thinking about it, if I had to take it back to Home Depot (I did not have the original invoice or box but did have the manual) it would have cost me for someone to take the whole fixture down from the ceiling and then again to have the new fixture put back up. I truly appreciate all your advice and thank you again.
I'm glad it worked out for you!
I use LiteManager for remote control.
