    Calcium in hot water faucets
We moved into a new home on well water. We have a water softener , 75 gallon hot water tank and a water cirulator pump. We have getting calcium particles out of all the hot water faucets. Where does our problem occur in the system? Thank You

Your problem lies in the water heater. Are the particals hard? Can you squash them between your fingers? I need to know this. Do you run monthly maintenance on your heater? No? Let me show you how.
For long life and fewer troubles you should keep your heater clear of mineral build-up by flushing on a regular schedule. Attach a hose to the boiler drain at the bottom of the tank. With the pressure on, open the boiler drain and let it run until the water runs clear. You will see a spurt of red,(rust) followed by white or yellow grains,(lime or calcium carbonate). This shouldn't take more then a few minutes. Do this monthly to keep it clear. Now flush out your hot water lines on ALL fixtures that are affected . Now pull each aerator and clean the screens. Be sure you put them back togather the same way you took them out. Don't forget to flush it out every month. Your heater will thank you for it. Hope this helps, Tom

Thank you, Yes you can crush them between your fingers. They are almost like tiny pellets. We have taken off all the faucent screens but they still seem to be coming and clogging the faucets. We have drained the hot water tank and still have the same problem. Is this due to a well system for a softener system? We are about to buy a new hot water tank due to frustration. Thank you for helping us.

What you have is mineral build up,( calcium carbonate) in your heater. You do not drain a heater, you flush it out under pressure. Follow my directions for flushing the heater. Flush out the hot water lines, clean the ninerals out of any faucet that's affected and you'll be just fine. Installing a new water heater won't help if you continue to allow minerals to build up because of no maintenance. Good luck, Tom

Thank you for the response. I have flushed the tank and all is doing well--except for two showers. I have taken off and cleaned the heads but there seems to be a clog in the pipe. Is there any chemical or tool which can reach the clog?

Have you shut the water off, opened up the valve and checked and cleaned the inlet ports on the cartridge? After you do that leave the valve open and turn bthe water back on to flush out the supplies and valve body. Let me know, Tom
