Hello, any answers/advice that you can give will be appreciated.
I live in New York and have paid off most of my debt. I have one major debt left that I am being garnished weekly for. I just received a letter that my bank account has been seized for the SAME debt by the same company that is having my salary garnished. Is this possible? I have no savings and almost nothing in my checking account. Can this firm garnish my salary and seize my account for this one debt? I am at my wits end because I have no idea of how I am going to pay for my living expenses. I have managed to crawl out of debt, but this will definitely stop any progess that I have made. Any suggestions? I have checked, the garnshiment and bank seizure is for the same debt and is being done by the same company. Thanks.

A creditor can garnish wherever it finds your property: your bank and your employer are good examples. You may be able to persuade the creditor to release one or the other, if you can get them to accept weekly or monthly payments. I would definitely have my next check go to a different bank.
