I have a kitten who is coming up on 15 weeks old. We trained him to use the litter box and we have seen him use it.

Our problem is this: He KNOWS how to use the litter box but apparently refuses to do so unless he wants to. We are finding piles all over our home and he is the ONLY one not using the litter box properly.

When we had our two kittens in a motel room for a couple nights, he used the box all the time. When we put them back into our mobile home, we put the litter box back into the Cat Room where we keep other boxes (we have 5 total cats) and their towers and toys. He immediately starting leaving piles throughout the home. We have seen him use the box since coming back home though so we know he knows where it is.

Any advice? It is getting worse to the point where he is now leaving piles on our bedding!

The only thing I can think of is to leave a litter box in another room maybe he will be more apt to use it if he it is away from the other ones. Also if he is not neutered yet I would consider getting it done. If he is peeing as well as pooing outside the box I would want him checked for a uti or bladder infection.
