How do I stop my hair falling out excessively?
I am 16 years old, and I just recently discovered that my hair has been falling out a lot. I don't know what to do to help it because I brush my hair I get scared because so much comes out. I really don't want to go bald, but I don't know if I have an illness or is it because my hair is so damaged. I do put my hair in a pony tail a lot and I use to put so much hair gel, hair spray in it. But even before I started puton so much hair stuff in it it still fell out. I even had a drastic weight loss and have been feeling really tired, and cold lately.

You need to go to the doctor because with everything else it sounds like your hair falling out may be one symptom. Also do not use a band to put your hair up. Use a scrunchy or a hair clip. Also get your hair trimmed to get rid of split ends.

Well first of all it does sounds very serious so you might want to go to a docter to get it checked out, but anyway when you say your hair is falling out, I'm assuming you mean breaking off and not going bald, what you can do is put a protein treatment on your hair , a good one is aphogee, you can get it from sally's beauty supply, and it will immediately stop the breaking, used this product every 3 weeks until your is back in good condition, o you and since it is a protein treatment it will make your hair dry or hard afterwards, so what you will have to do after your done drying it, is to put a moisterizer on it to soften it up,very important step because what does dry hair do , it breaks, also you want to make sure you stop brushing your hair because that pulls it out more, stop using obsessive heat and products that contains alcohol in it ex.( gels hairspray etc.. ) o you and of coarse wash and deep condition your hair once a week, or every 3 days if you wear a lot of hair products. Hope it helps.

    Don't listen to fuwenli.

First off, are you eating right?

    Secondly, are you sleeping right?

I've had a rough patch recently due to classes, midterms, and work... so I haven't been sleeping much (roughly 2 - 3 hours a day) and eating regularly (... maybe an apple... or a piece of bread a day... maybe), so I've noticed my hair falling out drastically.

I agree with the above posts that you should get checked out by a doc... if you wish, try to take a multivitamin to help you out a bit.

Ask your doctor to check you for anemia.

Is there anyone who has already been to the doctor and found out why they have chronic hair loss? I'm a 16 year old girl and I'm verrryyy concerned and don't want to be bald the rest of my life. Is this a medical problem that will eventually go away if I ignore it or do I need to seek help?? Please someone help.
