    Parent helping with homework
To the teachers, how should I be helping with homework? Make sure he does it and have you correct it, to see if they are getting it. Or should I correct it so it comes it school correct?

    Thanks

When my children were small the teachers wanted us to help correct them and show the children how to solve the problem. We were to put a note beside each problem that we had to correct.

I like it when the parents of my students supervise and help when necessary. They may present a different approach to solving a problem and I think that is great. It is important for children to learn that sometimes there can be more than one way to think something through.
I would explain it to your child and have them correct it themselves before turning it in. If there is any question remaining as to whether they understood the concept, a note is nice because it lets me see what may still need to be reinforced before moving on.

Thanks, but I didn't mean math type questions. I mean writing book reports and essay's.

Same idea... go over it, help them to make basic corrections. If you see something being repeated, forgetting endmarks or not capitalizing proper nouns for example, maybe write a short note.
