    Painting Identification
    Hello,

I would like to identify the painting I'm sending as an attachement. I gess that is an oil by a french painter of the beginning of the 20th century who may have bee close to the Nabis or more probably to the Fauves, but I'm not sure.

    Thanks in advance

Is this painting one that you own? Are there identifying marks, such as the artist's name or initials on the painting itself or anything printed on the frame anywhere? Sometimes as a painting ages, it can darken enough to make things hard to see in areas where there might be the artist's name or initials.

In the image below where I have enhanced a part of the painting, I have also drawn a rectangle around an area where there appears to be some kind of signature. If you do own this painting, or if not, are able to get close enough to it in some way, you might be able to figure out what the signature is. Even identifying a few letters could help us in giving you an identification of the painting. If that is a signature, it almost looks as though it has faded some.

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately I don't own the painting. I say unfortunately cause I guess it is less-known work of a great master. A French one if I 'm not wrong.
No, I just picked this pic in somewhere in the web longtime ago and I made the mistake of not taking note then of the author's name. And of course I forgot it...

I have tried editing the image in a number of ways. Some of the ways that I have edited it seem to lend some promise to at least making out a little bit of the signature on it. If I am truly successful with that, I will post an image here and then maybe some others might also have an idea as to who the artist might be.
