I am putting a full bath with a washer/dryer connection in the basement. I will be installing a macerator pump with a dedicated vent all the way through the roof. Here is my lay out. What size pipes do I need. I was thinking of 4" for toilet, 2" for sink, tub, and washer. 1 1/2 for vent. Will the tub vent be OK for all of the fixtures, or do I need to add one for the toilet, and/or the washer? Thanks for all of your help.

Your sizes look OK to me with the exception of the vents which should be 2". The holding tank will have sized inlets and instructions as to size and installation of the drain and vents. I couldn't have laid out the drainage any better myself. You ask," Will the tub vent be OK for all of the fixtures, or do I need to add one for the toilet, and/or the washer? "
The tub doesn't have its own vent, it's wet vented by the lavatory and yes, since every fixture with a trap must be vented, the washer must be vented also. The toilet's fine. In short , your layout would pass code in my area once you took the question mark off the washer vent. Good work, Tom

It depends on your local plumbing codes.

If AAV's are allowed in your area, you can use AAV's for both of those. However, any experienced plumber will tell you that it's virtually always better to use a real vent.

By the way, you don't need two separate vents going all the way to the roof. The washer vent can tie into the sink/tub vent (or vice-versa) using a t-fitting six or more inches above the flood-rim (i.e. the top of the sink, or the top of the washer standpipe), and then you can have one pipe going straight out the roof. Does that make using real vents seem a little more bearable? ;)

By the way, make sure the macerating system can handle a washer. From the Saniflo FAQ:

Can a washing machine be discharged into the Saniplus, Sanipro or Sanibest?
No, pumped appliances should not be discharged into the macerating pump system. The Sanibest will handle a laundry washer but only if pumped indirect i.e. through a laundry tub. The Sanivite is purposely designed to handle washing machines.

So make sure your system can handle pumped appliances, or at the very least an indirect draining through a utility sink.

That works great, I will combine the 2, not too much more work, since I am putting in a dedicated vent for the pump. I will check to make sure it will handle the washing machine... I really would not be too upset if it won't. Leave a lot more room down there! I know a little old lady that won't be too happy though!

Just curious: why not? How else do you plan on doing laundry? Do you have an alternate location for the machines? If yes, then why do you want to move them to the basement bathroom in the first place?

It's going to be a mother-in-law suite. I know my wife will probably do her laundry in her laundry room upstairs and the laundry room encroaches on the small area I have left for my shop! Thanks for all of the help. Scott
