    2007 Tax filing Self:H1B, Spouse: H4 - H1B
Really appreciate all the help you guys are providing here. I did search through the forum and it did enhance my tax knowledge a bit. Please go through my story and let me know your suggestions.

*Was on F1 student from aug 2001 to June 2006 and was filing 1040nr/1040nr-ez all those years.
*Left US and came back on H1-B visa on oct 29, 2006 and was working from then on H1-B. Filed 2006 taxes as single non-resident alien.
*Got married and my spouse came to USA on march 7,2007 on H4 visa.
*She converted to H1-B visa starting oct 1, 2007 and got her SSN as well. But, she hasn't worked for all of 2007 and hence has no W2.
*She had income from India for the month of Jan 2007.
*I updated my federal allowances to 3 on W4 (once I got married).

    With this scenario,

*I assume we should be able to file jointly.
*We both qualify as resident aliens as we both pass substantial presence test (both of us are here for at least 300 days in 2007).
*We can use 1040 and there is no need for form 8843 anymore.
*Need to report her income from India.

Please let me know if my assumptions reg filing 2007 taxes are correct or not. Please also let me know if I am missing anything here. Also should we file jointly for the state of Ohio taxes as residents?
