If you want quality music, pay for it. If music artists wanted to let you download their songs for free, they would do their job for free.

Just like anything else, you have to pay for good music.

Yes, its unethical and wrong. I'll download music, but I won't download a movie or a video game. I'll download music and buy the cd just to support the artist I'm I weird? I'll download a song because I'm to lazy to go to the next room and get the cd. I think I need help.

You're not that weird. My brother downloads stuff all the time, and then decides what he likes. If he likes enough that makes up a CD, he'll buy the CD. He's also downloaded stuff he already has. He's lazy too -- his CDs are right next to the computer but I guess it's too much trouble to put them in the drive. LOL.

You are using the term "Free music" as though all free music is copyrighted and illegal to download. That's simply not true. Just because something is copyrighted does not mean that the artist can't give it away for free. You're not going to be able to legally download the latest CD from whoever is on top of the charts this week and if that's what you're looking for then you are out of luck.

There's lots of other free music out there but you just have to look for it and be careful not to download anything that your not supposed to. Lot's of smaller indie bands will encourage you to copy their music and pass it out... one of my favorite bands, Carbon Leaf (Official Web Site of Carbon Leaf - Home) used to do this at their concerts. (I don't think they do it anymore but I have not been able to see them for awhile) You can even listen to several songs off their latest CD on line.

Yahoo music has a free streaming music and you can tailor it to the genres that you like... you have to listen to their stupid commercials and you can only skip so many songs per day that you don't like. You can rate the songs you do like, it learns and gets better over time. I realize that this doesn't fall into the downloads category but it's free music none-the-less. I'm not sure if this is available in Ireland but it might be worth checking into.
