5 weeks postpartum and still no period
I gave birth a little over 5 weeks ago and haven't got a period yet. I am not breastfeeding, tried it and didn't work out. Don't even think I breast fed for a week. 4 weeks after giving birth I had unprotected sex. A day or two after I had light brown discharge and light pink spotting and then it stopped. I have been having mild headaches and been dizzy a couple of times. A few days ago I took a pregnancy test and it came up negative but yesterday I had menstrual cramps like I had during my period before I got pregnant but I never started to bleed. Today nothing, no cramps and no bleeding. I was wondering if there was a chance I was pregnant again that it could be too early for the test to show up anything?

Yes, you could be pregnant if you had unprotected sex. You should not have had sex until your doctor gave you the okay, which I highly doubt seeing as everyone knows there's a 6-week MINIMUM wait.

Spotting and cramping could just be your uterus contracting after the birth. Not having a period yet isn't unordinary. Wait a few more weeks and see what happens.

There is a chance that you could be pregnant. I also did not breastfeed and it took 8 weeks for me to get my period. Make sure you use protection as you can get pregnant now, especially since you are not breastfeeding.

Yes, you could be pregnant. Your will ovulate before you get your period, therefore, if you had unprotected sex, you could have back to back pregnancies without even having a period in between. See your doctor and discuss birth control options, it is not good for your body to have another pregnancy this close together. Good luck.

My baby is now 9 1/2 weeks old and I have not started my period either. I am not breastfeeding, but my doctor did warn me that it could take some time before my period would start. If I were you I would wait a couple of weeks and retest, at least that way you know it's not too early and that the test should be accurate. IF you get another negative test and still have no started your period, then it's just not time for you to start it yet. It takes awhile for your body to go back to how it was before getting pregnant, period and all.
