Water runs out of drain until disposal is turned on
The water in the kitchen sink drains out fine until I turn on the disposal with the water running then when I turn off the disposal and water, the water shoots up through the disposal opening into the sink. Is there a way that there could be a clog somewhere just related to the disposal drain? It is just strange that the water drians out fine when the disposal is not turned on. Thanks. Much

You have a partial blockage in the drain pipe. Drain is open enough for water to flow out at the same rate as the water from the faucet is coming in. When using the disposal, it acts like a pump and forces the water into the drain pipe at a faster rate. Some water is probably being forced up the vent pipe a little ways. Turning off the disposal allows the water in the pipe to drain back into the sink. Snake drain line, restriction is probably very close.

If this kitchen sink is like one I had there was not a vent on it -- if it is a double

Sink you could block the side that doesn't have the disposal -- stopper and some weight..

Then try running a little water in disposal side while plunging the heck out of it or use

A Wet n Dry vac to suck and clear the blockage -- this will pull sewer gas so be careful
