    What is the purpose of pressure tanks with water pressure boosters are they necessary, for normal home installation with city water

    No, The average house pressure is 45 PSI. This should be enough pressure to work with. Pressure tanks and boosters pumps are used on pump installations and hi rise condos where the pressure loss is due to the heigth of the building. Regards, Tom

    What I was wondering is if a tank is necessary with the pump or is the pump okay by itself

    A pressure or bladder tank in needed to insure a constant flow. Also to save the pump motor from burn out. Without a pressure tank the pump would start up every time you made a draw. Not a good situation! Regards, Tom
