I have attached a pic of the shower drain cut out and the sink drain. I have also attached a pic showing the direction I want to build the walk in shower frame. I know absolutely nothing about plumbing so I will have to at some point get a plumber over here to help me out, but I think I will be able to frame in the shower as I am pretty good at wood working. I want to know how close to the sink drain in the floor that is sticking out I can build the frame. Also, is it unusual to have the sink drain stub in the floor rather than in the wall, and are there any extra steps I need to accommodate this? The drain for the shower is under four or five inches under the dirt but it only extends another three or four inches to the left from where the sink stub is in the floor. Is it just as simple as digging the stub out and attaching the p tube to for the shower drain or is there more to it?

That isn't a shower rough in, you have a tub dap-out. To rough for a shower a trap and raiser wi8ll have to be installed and the hole filled with dirt and capped with cement. I can't see in the hole. Is there a trap and raise down there?

Your plumber missed the wall. You will have to include the sink drain in the shower wall you're going to build and arm the lavatory out to it. Do you need directions on how to frame a custom tile shower, or will this be a manufactured base and enclosure? Let me know, Tom

I should have taken a pic of the hole when I dug the dirt out so you could see what is in there. There is a pipe stub on the very upper left hand of the hole. I don't think there is a trap or riser in there as it is just the horizontal end to the sink drain. It is actuall going to be kind of hard to work with because it is so close to the wall, and right in that upper left corner. It took me a few extra min. to find it as I was original digging in the middle of the hole. I am planning on building a custom shower base. I have bought a book at the Lowe's written by black and decker that gives a pretty good step by step how to but I would like to see the directions that you have as well. As far as framing drain into the shower wall, are you suggesting I drill a hole in the floor stud and build it into the wall that way? If I do this, I will probably have to use a sink with a cabinet type base and will drill out holes on the left side for the drain right? Or I guess I would always mount the sink on the exterior of the shower wall if I want one of those space saver sinks with no base.
