I have hot water baseray baseboards and recently noticed a drip from the "bleed" valve at the end of the baseboard. Upon further inspection, it appears there is a crack in the twist off "bleed" valve. I stopped the leak for now but need to replace it. Does anyone have an idea where I could look for a replacement. The reason I need help is because I'm not sure the actual name of this valve and do not know what to search for. It's the screw off valve at the end of the baseboard where if you unscrew it, water will shoot out. Thanks so much.:)

It is a bleeder valve.

Sometimes they are available at a good hardware store. If not see a HVAC company in your area.

Take a picture of it to take with you to the store.
There are a few different types and sometimes it is easier to replace the bleeder valve with the same one.
Most bleeder valves use 1/8 inch pipe threads to screw into the elbow or other fitting.
Make sure to put a little pipe dope on the threads before you install the new one.
You will probably have to turn off the auto water fill on the boiler and release the pressure on the boiler so the water does not shoot all over the place when you remove the old one.

Thank you very much for all of your help. I had to seal it last night with plumbers putty but with the heat on, it didn't last very long. I will check today at a hardware store. The problem I'm encountering with HVAC places around my way is that they will only sell to plumbers. I'm wondering if I could order one off the Internet.

Would I need to specify that it is a baseray system... because when I type in 1/8 bleed valve a bunch come up... when I specify baseray... nothing comes up. Thanks again for caring enough about my problem. It's freezing here and I just bought this house and cannot turn on the heat until it stops linking (on top of that, I've had the flu for four days!)
