My mother in law owens The house. Her older sister and husband was living there and was supposed to take care of all the bills. There is no loan on the house. Bills means taxes water elec etc... They moved out 3 months ago and we could not find them. So we cleaned up the property and through out a lot of junk. They put a 14x20 building on the property and now wants to come and get it. She has rented the house with the building and hasn't enough money to replace it. Is there a certain amout of time until it becomes her property in Georgia? They also paid none of the taxes, we had to pay 1500 for her to get it off the auction block. They also left unpaid balances on the water and elec. Bills that was in her name. She lives with her sister in PA.

If I follow you your MIL's sister moved out without notice or leaving a forwarding. Now they have returned and want a shed they erected while they lived on the property?

Tell them to no. Tell them that 1) improvements made to a property belong to the property owner unless there is something in writing to the contrary. 2) Since they left without paying utility and tax bills, that had to be paid, your MIL can take the shed in repayment. 3) They abandoned the property without any notice, thereby abandoning anything left on the property.

Any ONE of those reasons would be enough for your MIL to keep the shed. When you combine all three, it's a no brainer. If they don't like it, tell them to sue. They will lose.
