Two annoying error messages-what to do?
    My system:- WinXP SP2. Pentium4 2.8 1gig RAM
1st Error "enable long path name". This occurred when trying to install latest version of Norton Live Update. Symantech support gave the answer to this, but I still cannot install,& get the same error message.
2nd Error "This installation package could not be opened.Verify that the package exists & that you can access it, or contact the application vendor, etc etc"
This error first happened when trying to update MS anti spyware, then again whilst trying to update Adobe Reader. I have searched MS Support (a veritable maze), Google & a few other sites with no successful results. Any answers would be most appreciated, as I have wasted many hours trying to solve these problems.

    Hi,
Is there an error number for the second error? It will be better if you provide it for the experts to help you.

No error number in both cases, just the dialog.

Sounds like both might be related to the Windows Installer... Version 3.1v2 was released last October. Maybe re-installing will help..
