    Hot/Ground Reverse
How to troubleshoot my AC outlet/receptacle? I did check with my tester and I'm getting the hot ground reverse?

In the diagram of the outlet -- the neutral (white wire) should be wired to silver screw

And this should be the longer slot of the outlet but if the wiring is wrong at the

Panel the white may tie to power at breaker -- reversed -- neutral is hot

I suspect that you mean you have the hot and neutral reversed. If that is correct, it means that you have the hot (black) on the wrong side of the outlet. The black wire (dark color) should be on the brass (dark color) screw and the white (light color) should be under the silver (light color) screw.

Hk, their actually is a hot/ground reversed indication, does seem very unlikely some one to reverse hot and ground..
nhelgarico, Both above have correct info, won't repeat
