Are bath fan/light units wired to 2 switches?
In finishing my basement I'm adding a bathroom that will have wall mounted lights over the vanity/lav and a fan/light combo fixture closer to the shower. Is it common to wire the lights on both fixtures to one switch and the fan to another even though the fan/light combo is one unit? In other words, I'd rather not have the fan come on unless I need it on but I want both light fixtures to come on together.

If you want lights and fan to be separate -- have one switch and wire go to lights

The second switch and wire is power to the fan -- if you can access route for wires

This is an option -- if not run power for both off one switch

Dave, do what you want. There is absolutely NO rule regarding this.
