I am looking for a movie made in the 80's it is a historical romance or drama about England or France in which a girl is married off to an aristocrat or royalty. Her husband wants nothing to do with her he does not even consummate the marriage.The girl has a friend an older male (famous actor but can not consummate the name) she confides in him and he tells her to take a lover she does and gets pregnant when she tells her friend he tells her that she needs to consummate the marriage before people talk.The girl dresses up like a boy and goes to find her husband who drinking and doing who knows what with his group of friends. She makes him want her and the marriage is consummated. I can not remember any more about the movie other than she was pretty with long dark hair. If anyone can help me with the name of the movie or any names of the actors I would appreciate it as this has been bugging me for years now!! Thanks
