I have a hot water baseboard heating system 2 zones valves one zone is what the call a split zone it leaves the boiler in the basement I think 1 ins copper pipe goes to the end loops back to the boiler like in a u shape if you know what I mean the return is 3/4 copper the water seems hot going and coming but the house never seems to get very hot it works but not very well what could be wrong would it be that the zones are too long. Pump seems to work OK thanks for your help

To answer this question you really need a on site inspection at your home. Way to many variables with your install and piping to get a answer without seeing it.

You could have low boiler water pressure but that is just a guess.

Well lets see if anyone can answer this I have a summer and sometimes winter home in upstate ny catskills area I keep heat on and go there all the time in winter I have baseboard hot water heat and I put antifreeze in boiler anyway with oil getting so bad in price #4 per gallon and just wait till next year I want to keep heat real low just above freezing I have a freeze alarm that will call if temps go below what I set it at I would like to install a built in air compresser near the water tank so I could just flip a switch turn it on and open the faucets and let it blow out all the water easy and quick and not have to hook up hoses and all that crap has any one ever done that or taught about it what size I would need I could sweat it in on the lines with a bypass when not needed looking faeward to a response

My setup.

One tank type one horse power air compressor with 5 gallon storage tank attached.

One water line attachment fitting. Garden hose on one end and air compressor disconnect fitting on the other.

Attach fitting adapter to the outside water line connection. Attach compressor air hose to the other.

Set air compressor adjustment to 90 pounds.

Turn on compressor and let pressure build then open outside valve.

Go inside and bleed the farthest set of water valves first then let the compressor build up pressure and do the next set of valves until completed.

Leave the last set of valves open and drain the hot water tank.

Fill all drains with the pink antifreeze stuff.

This is how I have done it for 25 years and it works well. Depending upon your house structure you might have other valves to bleed including toilet water lines.

Now if you want to have this all hooked up just cut the line and install the adapter.

You know it is amazing how many plumbers do not know what the are doing. I had 3 or 4 plumbers look at my system most did not know what to do. Every one gave a different answer. Only one came close. One said well I could learn. Thanks very much for been honest with me and trying. And not saying do this do that . Pressure is OK that I know .it is a imbalance in the zones I have to split some of the zones up so the water is not too cold when it reaches last rooms on the zone
