My Kirkland washer (by Whirlpool) is a super capacity washer that I purchased second-hand. I bought the washer-dryer as a pair. But after moving it and doing the first load of laundry, there is a loud rumbling sound during the spin cycle. When I stop the washer (raising the lid) and adjust the tub, it just gets off balance again after a minute and begins its loud rumbling.

Can someone please offer me a solution? How can I fix the balance of the tub on this washer? Is it possible? Can I do it myself? What parts will I need and how can I check it out? Will I have to take the washer apart?

Really need help. I live in an apartment and this sound is sure to rouse my neighbors.

Is the washer sitting firmly on the floor. How is the drain hose hooked up.

You have 3 suspenion springs and 1 counterweight spring. Check them ou and make sure ones not broken. You will have to remove the cabinet to check. Also check the snubber at the tub ring. Not familiar with Kirkland in my area but if it's made by whirlphool, it will be very similar

The washer appears to be firmly planted and level. I know it has adjustable legs, but I didn't adjust them. After moving the washer and setting it up, it appeared to be level and fine. It works okay too. The only problem is the spin cycle, which seems to be tossing that inner tub back and forth during the spin. When the lid is opened and the tub is manually centered, the washer will spin for a few seconds normally and then go off balance again and start the terrible loud rumbling.

I'm not sure about the drain hose hookup. It seems fine to me. It is sitting in a hole in the wall designed for the washer drain hose to go in. Perhaps I am not knowledgeable enough about washers to address your question adequately. I apologize. And I appreciate your help.

Okay. That sounds like a reasonable step to take. As a novice, I'm a bit worried on damaging something while removing the cover. Not sure how the cover is to be removed, but I suppose I will figure it out. Do I need to tilt the washer to see the springs? Will they be visible upon removal of the cover? The appliance is a Kirkland super capacity washer (made by Whirlpool). It has knobs instead of digital controls.

My fear is that when moving the washer, I may have grabbed the inside tub when lifting it onto the truck. Would that have caused the problem I am experiencing? And if I check the springs and find something wrong, how difficult (and expensive) is it to replace it?

The reason for the drain question was, if the drain hose is sealed in the washer stand pipe, that is duct taped or otherwise sealed, the flow of water down the pipe can pull all of the water out of the washer. A little water is needed in the tub at the beginning of the spin cycle to help the clothes balance themselves. As esquire1 pointed out there is probably a snubber on the top rim of the tub. The snubber is just a rubber pad that rubs on the top edge of the tub to help the tub to stay balanced. You will probably have to remove the top to see it.

You didn't damage anything by lifting on the tub.
