    Abandonment/child support
My ex-boyfriend from 11 years ago pays his child support but hasn't seen the child for 9 years. Can I get him for abandonment. He recently is taking me to court for visitation.my son has a father figure for the last 10 years and my son thinks this is he dad. He has no idea about his natural father.

Abandonment has differing definitions depending on what state you live in. Where I live, it is a crime if one doesn't support his child for 30 days, which means paying child support to the custodial parent. Abandonment is also used within adoption law to justify terminating a parent's rights to his child. Since the father is paying child support, I do not believe you will be successful, especially if he is taking you to court to get visitation. It is time for you to tell your son about this part of your life. If it were me, I would write the story so that I wouldn't leave out important things or include too many extra details. I would say that I have something important to give to you, but before I do that I want to talk to you about something that I did.
