Joist thinkness for installing a toilet?
I'm thinking about installing a toilet in an upstairs that has 2 x 6" joists. Will there be room for closet bend in the floor?

    Thanks

The answer is yes. You will be using a 3" PVC closet bend to pick up the toilet. It should fit with space to spare unless you have unusually long run to the stack. How do you plan on venting it? Regards, Tom

The current stack/vent is about 5 to 6 feet away from where I can place the toilet. That means I will need 1 1/2" under the closet bend to get proper slope, correct? Will I have that much?

    Thanks again.

On a 6' drain at 1/4" to the foot you would indeed have 1 1/2" of drop, however, if space is tight then it's acceptable to drop to 1/8th" per foot giving you 3/4" of drop. Good luck, tom
