Lived in Florida and moved to va do I file twice?
I lived in Florida up until August of 2005 then moved to Virginia. I am trying to do my taxes online through H&R block and not getting any answers. Do I need to file the 2 states separate? Or can I do it all together? I really don't want to have to have a tax preparer do it and pay the $ when I can do it for free online.

Really? FL doesn't have income tax?

So what does the Florida Government do for revenue?

Florida only has federal... not state taxes.. but that isn't my question, my question is do I have to file separate for 2 states that I lived in...

You only file federal once. It does not matter how many states you lived in. you need to file a VA state income tax return in addition to the federal.

    SlimShadyGirl:

You have to file the VA tax return to account for the income earned in VA. The FL income does not count.

All of your income must be reported on the federal return.

For info on Virginia taxes go to www.tax.virginia.gov. You can also do your taxes online for free.
