    Printer not Recognized
I am very new to networking. I recently setup a Linksys Wireless network for 3 of the computers in my house. All computers are running XP Pro. I did not use the Windows Wireless Network setup wizard. I simply configured the router then use the provided software with the cards and enabled WEP. I have one printer attached to a computer and sharing is enabled on it. When I use the add a printer wizard on my other PCs, it is not recognized on any of them. Any Suggestions? Thank you.

Try installing the printer as a LOCAL printer. When it prompts you to select a Port, create a new TCP/IP port using the IP of the PC the printer is attached to.

Thanks for the idea. I tried it but it didn't work when I tried to print a test page. Any other ideas?

Is the printer set as shared?

My only suggestion at this point is to call techsupport for your printer or for Linksys. They may be able to help. Linksys especially has very good 24/7 toll free support.

With Windows, the easiest way to start the installation of a printer is to look inside Network Neighborhood (or My Network Places), find the computer sharing the printer, and double-click the shared printer. This starts the Add Printer Wizard, which takes you through the process of adding the printer.

The first question is: can you see the shared printer in Network Neighborhood?

Make sure the firewall is not blocking your family network.
