Is your light and fan on the same circuit or on different circuits?
What make and model is the fan?

I need to delete my response. See my next post.
We really need to know the make and model BEFORE HE GOES TRYING ANYTHING. Different model fans have a lot of different factors that can cause them to stop working.
I pretty much deleted my previous post having reread it. Somehow I got it in my mind that this was a bathroom light, exhaust and that's what I based my answer on. After reading again the poster makes no such reference to a bathroom.
I don't remember what you wrote, but it didn't seem like bad advice for a ceiling fan. There are just a few things I wanted to rule out first.
If I recall correctly, it would have applied to any non-remote fan sold at Home Depot or the like.
Thanks but I was talking about the plug in outlets inside bathroom exhaust fan/light combo. Totally off base for most ceiling fans but boy am I ready for the next exhaust fan problem. Looks like Goalhab feel off the earth, happens.
