My husband put a new water supply line in for a toilet in a rental place we have. Now he is out of town and it is leaking a lot. It seems to be leaking from where the metal piece connects the flexible hose to the nut where it tightens down. If I get it positioned just so it just leaks a little, but the slightest movement of the hose makes it leak a lot. Is there a product that can just be put around the top to seal it off? Any help is appreciated!

There are two nuts that secure a toilet supply. One on the tank and one on the angle stop. Which bone's leaking? Regards, tom

Since I do not know what the angle stop is, I am going to say it is the one on the tank. It seems to be leaking in between this plastic nut that is against the outside of the tank and where there is some kind of metal piece that covers the flexible tubing. Sorry for my basic description - I do not have a lot of plumbing knowledge. There is no shut off valve for the toilet like I have on mine in my own home and I am unable to shut the water off because the shut off is very old, has a broken handle, and is impossible for me to even budge.

That nut up under the tank is fairly big so you need a large pair of plyers or an adjustable wrench. When you reach under the tank everytnig is reversed so you want to grab the nut and turn counterclockwise since the nut is upside down. Just make it very snug, no great strength required. Dry everything off and then come back and check it a little latter. Speedball1's favorite trick is to lay toilet paper around on the fkoor under the tank. Just one drop of water will really show up loud and clear. Come back if there is still a drp. Maybe it's the other end of that small supply line. By the way, the stop is the little faucet handle found on most supply lines after they come out of the wall.

That worked! Thank you so much - it was nice to be able to call my husband with good news for a change. I just hate feeling helpless, so it was great to actually be able to fix something for once instead of making it worse (I do that a lot!)

No one is helpless but you may not have had certain experiences and that's where we come in. We have many pros here at the desk and guys like me, long in experience but short in a trade license. We can get most people out of most hot water. Good luck young lady. Bob
