I have been noticing some wetness aroundthe outside of my stall shower. It is a Tile shower in a ranch type house on a slab. I looked carefully at all the grout on the floor and resealed the corners but that did not help.
I thought it might be the drain but can only get the top off. The other has no screws. Can you pry it out or doesn't it come out? The wetness is in the lower front corner. Could it be coming from where the pipes actually connect to the shower line? Is there shower pans in all stall showers and how could that be leaking if it is not going through any of the tile?

The first thing that you have to do is localize the problem. If you can get the strainer off then tonight before you go to bed close the drain off by blowing up a balloon in the open drain or stuffing a wet sock in the hole to make it watertightand dry off any moisture on the outside. Now fill the shower floor up with two inches of water and let it set over night. Check for any moisture in the morning. This will check the drain and the shower pan. If there's no moisture in the morning then it's a pretty safe bet the leak the leak is in the tile grout the stream hits as you shower. Hope this helps. Tom

Thanks. I can do what you said but don't understand something. If the water doesn't go down but it's still wet couldn't it be where the pipes connect inside the wall? A drip that ends up in the front corner.

That's why I asked you to pin point the source of the leak. Tile, drain seal or shower pan. Let me know w3hat you find. Tom
