This question will take about a 4000 page book and the rules changed greatly this year. To file, you have about a 40 page group of forms that are to be filed out, there are pages of allowed exemptions as to money in bank, equity in cars and home. You need to see a bankrutpcy attorney, I will be frank, if you have to ask this question, you will not be able to file your own most likely, I used to help people file in years past, was even told by one judge that he wished the attorneys officies did as good as work on the paper work as I did. But I would not even start trying to do one today because of all of the changes.
