    Passport while on probation
I need to apply for a passport while on probation to travel to the country of Sri Lanka to meet my finance' for the first time so he can obtain a visa to visit me in the USA. Can I get a passport or what must I do in order to obtain a passport. We must meet in person before he can get visa to come to me for 90days.

    Hello rushing:

I don't think the State Department will issue a passport while you're on probation, and I don't think your probation officer will let you leave the country.

I'd certainly file your application though, and ask my PO for permission. What's the worst that can happen? You can't go? Ok, life continues.

As long as you get written permission from your PO and apply for a passport legally if they give it to you then you may go. If your PO does not give you written permission then you cannot go anywhere outside your state.
