    Printer prints garble
I have a 4215v All in one printer. When I set it up on a different computer, it worked fine. When I set it up on my laptop, it seems to print out some type of encrpyted code versus printing out what I want it to print. Even when I press Print Preview, it does the same. It seems to work fine in a word document but prints out the Garble when I am on a Web Page. I went on HP's website and re-downloaded the Driver thinking that might be my problem but I still get the same results. Any help solving this would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

i think i know how to figure this out, thought it would be easier if i could see the computer and printer. Your'e using a laptop you say? I would try checking the "my computer thing and seeing if it is properly functioning on there and then look at the "help me" icons on thecomputer. they help alot.

    Steven,

I really will come down to which driver you are using.

For example, if you are using the HP XL driver and send the printer a PCL 5 document, what you are seeing may be PCL 5 codes that the XL interpreter doesn't know what to do with.

Most often, it may be a setting in an application you are using. For example Word. If you were to use imbeded printer control commands into the document and then not set the application to send the effects of the printer for example "Begin Bold". The application will send an "<esc> B" to the printer. The printer will properly print the "<Left arrow> B" because that is what it has been told to print.

A couple of things I would need to really go after the problem would be the actual data file from the application, a "Print to File" of the failure and sample of the failure.

If you want the help, let me know.
