F-1 visa with a US Citizen Child
    Hi,

I'm a single father for a US citizen child ,I hold F-1 visa ,I'm a non resident alien for tax purposes . My question is which form I have to file 1040NR or 1040NR EZ?
My second question is can I claim my child as a dependent?also can I claim child expenses?

    Thanks.

    Sir:

If you are Indian, Canadian, South Korean or Mexican, you CAN claim the child as your dependent even though you are a non-resident alien filing Form 1040NR.

If not, you cannot claim the child as a dependent. However, you CAN claim the $1,000 Child Tax Credit by filing Form 8901 with your return.

You CAN claim the child care credit.
