    Wellbutrin side effects
I started taking wellbutrin about 3 months ago but I am still drinking wine at night. Are there any serious side effects from this?

Exactly how much wine are you consuming? Were you advised not to consume any alcohol while taking Wellbutrin? Some doctors will say no more than 2 glasses of wine and some will say no to any alcohol. Did you ask your doctor this question? He (or she) knows you best. There may be other factors involved that we, at the Help Desk, would not know, and could not address. Please consult your doctor.

I have been on Wellbutrin for over 5 years and have consumed alcohoholic beverages the entire time. The downside to this is the adverse affects and damage this can cause the liver. Drinking alone is not good for the liver, however, coupling that with medication(s), (which are broken down by the liver), only increase the potential for damage. Therefore, it is important to have your physician monitor your liver enzymes (possibly once a year) for any damage that may be occurring. I had abdominal surgery just prior to being prescribed Wellbutrin, and was told by the surgeon that my liver looked "brand new." Unfortunately this had given me a false sense that it was okay to drink, which its not. So I am aware and ever so conscious about how much alcohol I consume. I have also read that if you take Wellbutrin that it is not good to suddenly stop drinking alcohol, because this can worsen depression. So, if you are truthful when you say that you only drink a couple of drinks a day, I don't see a problem other than what I have already mentioned.
